This poem doesn't fit inside of the box... What do you do?

If a poem doesn't fit inside of a box, try a different angle, maybe even take a step back. Every way that you look at a poem will be unique - it leaves a different impact on every reader. To some it is just a few lines, to some it's fuzzy and far away, to some it may be perfectly clear...

  2. This is really cool! I loved your take on the prompt! A picture speaks 1000 words and in your case, you have 5 pictures. Not only were the pictures in different angles, which was creative, but I really liked the shadow effect given to each picture. The shadow and black-and-white effect captures the mystery that each poem has as well as your point of poetry having different angles. Great post!

  3. This is an awesome idea, to actually create a visual metaphor to accompany your ideas about the prompt. Thanks for sharing!

  4. I absolutely adored this post. Oftentimes, I feel like the true meaning of a poem eludes me, and I believe that the photographs captured that idea beautifully. I also love that what may be a "true meaning" can be quite subjective, just a s certain pictures may speak more to one person than others. Excellent work!

  5. This is a very creative way to answer the prompt, and I think that it worked very well. The pictures are also well staged and look surprisingly representative of the mental image you are trying to portray through the paragraph at the beginning.

  7. The photos look great! The fact that a single object (or collection of objects) has many different angles fits well with how different people react differently to poems. Your simple, clean way of portraying the idea not only looks cool, but gets the point across effectively as well.

  8. I love this! The mobile is such a cool idea to visualize this problem, and you've done a lovely job with the photographs of capturing different angles that create various relationships between the "poem" and the "box." And the prose introduction you give is very nice, and sheds a useful light on the different perspectives we can take on a poem, and on poetry.

  9. Those photos are really creative! I think photography is a very important form of art that really captivates imagery. I like how you took the box "literally" and the poem literally went outside the constraint in the photos. This symbolizes that poetry does not have boundaries, but in fact limitless.

  10. I don't think I could have ever thought to perceive this poetry problem this way. People may think that photography is one dimensional because you can't photograph things in your imagination, but you've proved them wrong with this post. This solution represents that poetry can't be controlled and that poetry was made so you could think outside the box.
